Fern Clearing

Named because of its abundance of ferns that surround the clearing, it is a large place veiled by pine trees. A small pond lies nearby, but is too small to have any prey - nevertheless, it is refreshing for when you need a drink while training. The ground is mostly dirt and grass, and quite springy, providing the perfect place to practice moves without seriously injuring oneself. Used for both training and hunting, it is also convenient because of its location not too far from the borders or the camp. The only downside about the clearing is that, compared to the rest of the territory, it's very defenseless against predators. Luckily, foxes and the like are very rarely seen here, if ever, and can usually be scented long before they reach the clearing should they approach.

Pine Woodlands

True to its name, many pine trees are scattered about through the woodlands, as well as dirt and common grass sprouting up from the ground - where it isn't obscured in needles, anyways. Any cat could get lost in this maze of pines, but it's easy to navigate if you know your way. Crows, voles, squirrels, mice, and magpies are the common creatures that reside in these woods. The woodlands are a main resource for hunting, and water sources are spread throughout the territory. Most of the water in the woods is clean; it's only as you get to the marshier areas does it become infested with algae, though it never hurts to be careful. This is the most common place to patrol, since the woodlands are the closest to the border and two-leg hall.

Shadowed Caves

The shadowed caves sit at the very edge of ShadowClan territory, and mark the point where their border ends and the 'outside world' begins. Etched along the base of the rocks that eventually end up forming Highstones, creating a ‘cliff-like’ feel, the shadowed caves are actually a series of seven main spaces all linked together by crevices and then a good deal of smaller ones, some of them (supposedly) inaccessible. Covered by moss and bare brush, the dark and forbidding atmosphere tend to keep away cats, and even members of ShadowClan feel unnerved or refuse entirely to hang around them. However, that doesn’t stop them from preparing some of the caves as a back up camp, the knowledge of which is carefully kept hidden from prying others – and excuses are always made to others for the cats who die chasing out nesting badgers, foxes, and the like from the would-be camp. It’s a secret refuge that is the best kept secret of ShadowClan, and they’d like to keep it that way.

Board Information & Statistics

Territory
Mud and grass carpets half of ShadowClan's land. The combination of textures, resulting in a rather liquid and boggy state, makes ShadowClan's land unattractive. Ponds already diluted with mud and algae can be seen in some areas. Lucky for them, a large narrow stream cuts straight across their territory, filled with minnows and frogs; frogs have become another common dish for ShadowClan, seeing as their territory caters to them. But ShadowClan's main delicacy is crows and magpies, seen commonly on their grounds; rabbits are rarer, but no less coveted. In wintertime, when the ponds and stream are frozen, ShadowClan cats are forced to eat berries, nuts, and small mice or voles - which they detest. In contrast, the other side of ShadowClan territory is relatively pleasant, consisting of dry land, grass and pine trees. Brush, ferns, and other shrubbery is evident on both sides of ShadowClan, but seen more on the lush side of camp.
